My Favorite Oils

I tend to always have dry skin in winter, and so slathering on lotions and chemicals doesn't really make sense for me. Instead, I prefer oils. There are a few oils that I love and wanted to share with you as well.

These oils work great as skin moisturizers, eye makeup removers, and even as a hair moisturizer/serum. These are my personal favorites, are easy to find, and cheap.

I also like to make my own mixture of them, using mostly coconut oil, a little olive oil, and a little castor oil as a skin moisturizer and hair serum.

These oils are  available at most grocery stores.

MY SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Eye and Face Makeup Remover

Add a few drops of olive oil to fingers or to a cotton ball and wipe over eyes and face. Rinse off with water and follow with regular cleanser.

Facial Cleanser and Moisturizer

To cleanse normal to dry skin, apply with a few drops on fingers or cotton ball. Remove with water. Pat a few more drops on to damp skin for a lasting moisture treatment. Or after dispensing any facial moisturizer onto your palm, try adding 5-6 drops of olive oil to make it into a super moisturizer.

Body Moisturizer

Apply immediately after shower or bath, while skin is still damp. It seals in moisture, leaving skin soft and smooth.

Foot and Hand Softener

Use alone or add a few drops to your regular moisturizer. For an intense foot treatment, apply oil, wrap in gauze and put on socks. Leave on for at least one hour. Feet will be beautifully soft and smooth.

Lip Conditioner

Apply to finger and smooth onto lips. Works great as an overnight treatment.

MY HAIR CARE ROUTINE

Hair and Scalp Massage

Add a few drops olive oil to hands. Massage into scalp to relieve dryness.

Deep Conditioning Treatment for Hair

Pour a quarter-sized amount of olive oil into hands. Smooth over damp hair, applying most of oil to ends. Leave on for 5-10 minutes. Shampoo out and style as usual. To help mend split ends, rub one or two drops into your hand and then apply to ends of your hair. Apply while hair is still damp to help smooth frizzies.

Treats scalp pimples

I have a  scalp pimples problem. I thinks this is a common hair problem. To get rid of scalp pimples, all you need to do is massage your hair with olive oil. Do not press the scalp pimple with the oil, massage the pimple in a circular motion with the olive oil. This hair treatment will get rid of the scalp pimples in no time.

Castor oil is the best remedy for promoting hair growth. It is often advised to apply it topically to the scalp for thick hair. I general use it with coconut oil for my hair.  One thing I do before going to bed at night, just rub a little around my eyes and even on my eyelashes.

I use coconut oil as an hot oil treatment and deep conditioner. Use it as a lip balm, hand moisturizer,  as a foot moisturizer.
